For most large companies the staffing process is controlled by sets of rules that ensure the equitable treatment of all job applicants for a particular type of position. The rule for management jobs may be as simple as "consider employees first", while those for occupational jobs may be codified in a complex union contract.

dgStaff supports all flavors of the staffing life cycle within the context of the rules that your business follows. In addition to supporting multiple agreements, dgStaff has a set of unique concepts built in to allow implementation of your staffing rules. The following are just the highlights:

1. Unlike basic applicant tracking systems, dgStaff knows a great deal about your current employees. With this knowledge in hand, you can define rules that govern eligibility for normal job movement (relating, perhaps, to performance and time in job). More importantly, you can grant special consideration to an employee who is in a situation that warrants special treatment. For example, an employee who has been declared surplus may be granted a surplus special consideration that could override some or all of the normal rules for movement.

2. dgStaff bases its matching on job bids initiated by employees and external applicants. In addition to modifications to eligibility, employees with Special Considerations might be granted special bidding privileges, priority placement requests. dgStaff allows you to reserve some types of priority placement requests to your staffing professionals. Typical situations include employees who have medical restrictions or are returning from leave.

3. In addition to our various types of placement requests, we use claimed and measured competencies to include or exclude potential candidates. Skills are claimed by a person, and verified by an employee's supervisor or a hiring manager. Tests and employment screenings may be scheduled, and the results recorded by internal or external providers. It is worth noting that the competency requirements may be altered by placement request type.

4. Managing all of these special bids and various competencies would be impossible without a centralized list of bidders. The dgStaff candidate summary is a list of placement requests in the order in which the candidates should be considered. The order reflects all of your rules about job qualifications (competencies, etc.) as well as special considerations and placement request types. For example, an employee with a surplus placement request might appear before another with equal qualifications but a normal placement request type.

Clearly, these rules may vary by type Job Requisition, and dgStaff supports this as well. All of the rules that drive dgStaff are easily customizable to reflect your staffing policies. Your branded version of dgStaff will support your unique staffing processes for managers, staffers, employees, and applicants.
